Narrative of the Young Shepherd

In the heart of the mesmerizing rolling fields, lived a shepherd boy. His being was untarnished, and unsophisticated. His main role was to tend to his flock of ewes.

Their soft bleating and the whispering of the breezes among the solo tree on the mountaintop were his main associates. Day upon day, looking out for his responsibilities instilled in him a notion of quiet fulfillment.

Yet, there were at times moments of isolation, when the shepherd boy would pine for fellowship. During one such occasion because of sheer tedium, the shepherd boy conceived a troublesome plot.

Stories of wild beasts preying on sheep had been heard times and again in the village. So, the boy opted to used this fear and played a joke on the townsfolk.

One day he website raced into the village yelling “Wolf! A wolf is preying on my sheep!” The terrified villagers ran up the hills for rescue but found nothing threatening.

The boy giggled at the confusion on their faces. This prank continued for a few more days. But, one noon, a real wolf actually come to prey the herd. The shepherd boy ran for aid shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one showed up.

Frustrated and alone, the boy fought against the wolf but managed to rescue only few of his flock. Devastated, he returned to the town only to receive a scolding on honesty and the results of dishonesty.

His tale of this shepherd boy has been handed down generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the importance of honesty, the implications of dishonesty and the perils of crying wolf. Moreover, it highlights how trust once broken, is hard to regain. It's a story as relevant today as it was then.
